Hovis & Granary Competition - 2009

At the Alliance for Bakery Students and Trainees (ABST) annual conference held in Torquay over May Bank Holiday weekend, the Hovis and Granary competition was a big highlight, with a record amount of entrants and loaves!

An impressive 200 students took part this year, which is an increase of 25% on previous years. A total of 400 loaves of bread were baked, cut and marked, which was a daunting task considering the incredibly high quality.

Two of Rank Hovis' technical team took up their position as 'judges' and were highly impressed with the quality of breads baked, with some of the best Hovis loaves they've seen this year. The judges also commented that even students that did not win certificates or prizes should be proud of their achievements, as there was little variance between competing colleges.
