Planting Crosses at Westminster Abbey

As part of the Hovis Milling & Baking Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal the marketing team at Rank Hovis joined numerous volunteers to plant Remembrance Crosses in the grounds of Westminster Abbey in the lead up to Armistice Day.

Pictured are Sara Reid and Lisa-Jo Harvey who braved the cold and rain on Monday 8th November to help the RBL plant over 80,000 crosses at the Field of Remembrance.

By Wednesday the field was a sea of Remembrance Crosses with scarlet poppies, each cross inscribed with touching personal messages from the general public and family members who lost loved ones in the conflicts past and present.

The Rank Hovis Poppy Appeal campaign is based on the Hovis Multiseed flour, which contains a blend of wheatgerm and seeds including poppy. A one off donation of £10,000 will be made at the end of the campaign. Craft Bakeries up and down the country have been baking and selling Hovis Multiseed loaves and using dedicated RBL point-of-sale material to show their support for the campaign and promote their delicious products.
