Ninety five per cent of adults in the UK do not currently eat the three servings per day of wholegrains that is recommended by some health professionals. In fact, a third of British adults do not eat any wholegrain.
Scientific studies have suggested a link with wholegrain and health, including:
- The consumption of wholegrains is linked to a reduced risk of coronary heart disease
- A diet rich in wholegrains may be associated with reductions in blood pressure and the onset of hypertension

- Wholegrains also offer a number of health-promoting substances including:

- Fibre (soluble and insoluble)
- B Vitamins (thiamin, niacin, riboflavin, pyridoxine, pantothenic acid)
- Minerals (copper, iron, zinc)
